Before Entering Exam Hall :
- All our exam preparations should be in a way that which would helps us in revising our entire learnings during our exam holidays(Days between the exams).
- Reach at least 20 minutes before the exam which will help us entering the exam hall in calm and without any tensions.
- Use washroom if necessary before entering the exam hall. Going to washroom during exam may spoil your valuable 8- 10 minutes.
- Be optimistic while going to the examination hall. Don't ever think about your preparation level. Leave everything outside and just try to score maximum marks out of the paper. That's the only possible thing we can do now and do it joyfully.
After Entering Exam Hall :
- Time Management : We have 15 minutes + 180 minutes in our hands i.e. 1.8 minutes per mark to write it down. We should have a good control over the time to attend all the questions.
- Cool Off Time : You should plan the paper in first 15 minutes. While reading don't try to recollect the entire answer. Just jot down the link to the answer.
- Compulsory questions may be lengthy or tougher. Only read the first question last in the cool off time. Anyway you have to attend the question. A few emotional mind games may be played by the ICAI in this case as well.
- Sequence of answering the questions should be done at cool off time.
You may sequence the answering in this style :
#1 - Well Known & Less Time Consuming say 30%
#2 - Well Known & Time Consuming say 60%
#3 - All other questions say 10%
- Earn the respect of evaluator in first 40 Marks. Write it beautifully to impress him.
- Also set the timeline to check on your speed. You may set a target of say 1.6 minutes per mark.
- While in the hurry to attend all questions don't compromise the quality of your answer. Handwriting is not an issue but it should be readable and understandable.
- Write answers with proper headings, subheadings, numberings etc to make it more attractive.
- Answering to theory questions :# Point wise if it is a smaller answer# Para wise if it is lengthy
- Writing section numbers and citing case lawsNot mandatory but it's ornamental. Can get good marks. But don't take a chance to write a wrong section number, sometimes examiner will not give you any single mark.
- Answering case study questions :Answer in 3 paras :1)Relevant Principles or Provisions2)Facts in the question3)Your Opinion
- Answering problem questions :Working notes and assumptions should be part of your answer. Workings need not be at last can also be at beginning. Each and every step will get mark. It's not an issue if not tallied.
- For small mark questions say 4 marksEg if there are 10 points write most important 8 points.
- Attempt all questions.Like Facing all the balls in a match will fetch you more runs than getting out in between. Even if you don't know anything about the question, write some points in general.
- Never drink too much water from exam hall. And never place your water bottle on your exam desk.
After Exiting Exam Hall :
- Evaluation job is not yours. Just throw your question paper after your exam and just focus on the next exam. Never do postmortem analysis with your friends after the exam.
- ICAI may test students by setting the first paper or the other difficult. Don't give up your hope when seeing a difficult question paper. ICAI may make the valuation liberal for such papers. So try making your best out of such paper and leave it. Some times scoring just a pass mark in that paper and scoring more in the other papers will help you clear the exams. Make sure that you don't get trapped in the emotional mind games of ICAI.
- First paper to last paper, you should have the same emotion. One paper should not affect other.
- Don't analyse your performance after each exams. Whatever is done is done you can't change the past. Focus only on the next.
- Whatever happens see your self as winning the game. Think like : Even if one student is going to clear the exam, that person is me.
"No one can stop you, if you have a strong dream"
"Winners never quit"
Ordinary people can reach extra ordinary feats. (Remembering sir Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam)
All the very best for your Exams !
