#Take handwritten notes for effective memorization

Notebooking a lecture is more detailed and neat, and it may seem like it helps you memorize it faster. However, it does not.

To speed up the learning process, write everything down the old tried-and-true way - by hand.

Writing helps to highlight important information and also encourages us to look for new information. When we write, various cognitive mechanisms come into play: repetition, reinforcement, and critical reflection on new material.

Studies have shown that people who prefer computers and gadgets to take notes process and absorb information less well than those who use paper and pen.

While writing by hand can be a long and tedious task, it in and of itself contributes to better comprehension and memorization of material. And paraphrasing information in your own words helps keep it in your memory longer.
